I'm Blogging Because...

Here it is. So I finally figured to start a blog. I needed a catchy name, cool graphics and something to talk about.

The name was easy to figure out. It’s a no-brainer: one thing I wanted to talk about was my life in general and I know it’s pretty narcissistic, but sue me. There are probably worse blogs out there that aren’t even funny. “That kid on the radio.” A lot of ways I can use it. Nice ring, not too shabby. Bazingga! Next problem.

Anyone who personally knows me is probably aware that my obsessive-compulsiveness when it comes to making things match can either be a good thing or a curse. For example: good side? The page looks great! No BS. The graphics are simple enough, the blue’s a nice touch of color; aesthetic is generally clean. Bad side? For starters, it took me 2 hours to figure out the right shade of blue and around 45 minutes to figure out the right text fonts. What was I doing? Flipping things around in Photoshop. I felt like a girl at a really big department store that literally tried everything on and just bought a plain t-shirt.

So I signed up for a blogger account and it seemed simple enough, really. Took me a while to figure out how HTML works. If I recall correctly, the last time I typed an “<img src...>” line was in 6th grade. I got it right on the first try and that made me feel relieved-- only because Computer classes back then were spent  on “newgrounds.com” or Miniclip. If there’s one thing I remember vividly, it was swearing that the worst feeling in the world was anticipating if a code you manually typed up for an hour or so would load in your Internet Explorer (or Netscape Navigator, like any authentic 90’s child) once you hit F5. It did, and it felt magical. I swear I felt something light up in my pants.

I got that out of the equation and felt my way around the blogger Dashboard. I was never one to read manuals or “How To’s.” I sh*t you not, everything I know about Photoshop, or graphic design and photography was (and still is) self-learnt. If there’s one thing I’m thankful for, it’s my incredible self-learning skills, which I think I developed because I never really listened in class. Take a look at my previous report cards and yes, you will agree with me when I say that I am one incredibly lucky bastard.

So why start a blog? Why not. I’ve always been known to have a smart mouth with a lot to say and I thought: there are a gajillion blogs out there, some of which are the dumbest things I’ve ever read (and some otherwise) and they exist for the heck of it. I let out my thoughts on the radio and on Facebook and twitter (and I used to on TV) so a blog would probably do me good. Take a good look at the blog’s header and it will be easy enough to understand. This blog is all about “a life in progress”--my life--as a college student, radio jock; a kid.

Simple enough. 'Til the next post!
